Care Management: Electronic Health Records

Healthcare organizations are utilizing Electronic Health Records to decrease fragmentation of patient care.  Proper implementation and use of Electronic Health Records by frontline healthcare staff is the key to providing coordinated care.

This course aims to strengthen frontline healthcare worker’s understanding of the benefits of Electronic Health Records, while also exploring the role staff play in properly documenting and utilizing these types of records.

Electronic Health Records not only improve patient care, they also improve efficiency and decrease healthcare spending.  With the use of Electronic Health Records, there are less errors and improved communication.  In this course, healthcare workers will acquire a basic understanding of record management systems and its overall role in providing effective care coordination.  Participants will discuss the importance of health information exchanges amongst healthcare professionals and organizations, and how it’s use helps to efficiently provide care to patients. Finally, this course provides an overview of HIPPA guidelines and how to maintain the safety and security of patient’s electronic files.
